Exquisite Mother Koala and Joey Design
Obverse: Queen Elizabeth II’s effigy graces the obverse. The design, which was created by Jody Clark, depicts the monarch wearing her Royal Diamond Diadem, earrings, and a necklace. The portrait is encircled by a rim frame that notes the monarch’s name, “ELIZABETH II,” the dates of her reign, “1952-2022,” the name of the issuing country, “AUSTRALIA,” and the face value of the coin, “1 DOLLAR.” Jody Clark is a British coin designer. He is best known for his portraits of Queen Elizabeth II and the reverse designs for the Queen’s Beasts Series.
Reverse: The reverse features a touching image of a mother koala on a gumtree with a joey on her back. The name of the animal, “KOALA,” is inscribed along the rim at the top. To the left are inscriptions of the date, “2023,” and the coin’s weight and purity, “1 OZ 9999 SILVER.”
