Spectacularly Detailed Imagery
Obverse: On the obverse, Ostara Valhalla stands in the wilderness, in the company of a deer and a hare, which are both emblematic of fertility. The young woman is clothed in a medieval style gown, wearing a floral wreath upon her head and a pendant displaying the Berkanan rune. The Berkanan rune symbolizes vitality, regeneration, female fertility and beauty. “OSTARA” is inscribed above, in a lettering style inspired by the character shapes of the Runic alphabet.
Reverse: The reverse features a wooden shield framed by a wide decorative border. The border is adorned with a delicate Celtic knot pattern which is augmented with Germanic runes symbolizing divine protection, fertility, energy and love. The frame surrounds an image of a bellowing deer, the bicephalous (two-headed) eagle logo of the Germania Mint, the inscriptions “GERMANIA 2023,” “1 OZ AG 999.9” and the ornamental “5 MARK” denomination.
