The 24 karat gold foil Aurum note is part of the New Hampshire Goldback series. The Goldback series was developed as a means to own durable, spendable, physical gold that is free from the influence of inflation. Aurum is created by a state-of-the-art process in which extremely precise amounts of vaporized gold is encapsulated between two thin sheets of polyester film. The note is issued as a form of voluntary local currency redeemable only in the state of New Hampshire, as indicated by the declaration “Specie Legal Tender Instrument” printed on the note. This note is privately issued and is not U.S. dollar legal tender. The design on this 25 Goldback note appeared on a previously issued release. While maintaining the original integrity of the artwork, the image has been enhanced for 2023 with meticulous detailing, sharper line work and bolder color accents.

Obverse: The virtue of fortitude is allegorically represented as Fortitudine on the obverse. Rendered as a confident young woman, Fortitudine grasps a musket and powder horn, while wearing a striped pattern that appears on the U.S. flag, and a Revolutionary War uniform jacket. At her side, a miniature reproduction of New Hampshire’s famed granite monument of is engraved with the official state motto, “LIVE FREE OR DIE.” In the background, a maple tree is equipped with a tap and bucket to symbolize the resurgence of life after a harsh winter and the fortitude of its native wilderness creatures, vegetation, and human residents. The inspiring message “TAKE COURAGE” is located near the bottom right corner of the image in an attractive script.
