Obverse: Lady Liberty is portrayed as a young woman on the obverse, encircled by a border of fifty stars. Ms. Liberty carries a flaming torch and an olive branch as she walks forward, with the stylized rays of a new day’s sun in the background. Inscribed “LIBERTY,” “2023” and the “ASG” monogram of the artist. The time-honored design is adapted from the 1907 Gold Double Eagle, which was created by acclaimed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
Reverse: An eagle is depicted in a left-facing portrait style on the reverse. Surrounding inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “10 DOLLARS,” and “1/4 OZ. FINE GOLD.” The Type-2 eagle portrait is the first U.S. Mint coin design credited to Jennie Norris, a member of the U.S. Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program since 2019.
