Detailed Liberty and Bald Eagle Designs
Obverse: This side features the Walking Liberty design, which is one of the most widely appreciated depictions of Liberty ever to appear on a U.S. coin. This design was created over a century ago by Adolph A. Weinman, whose initials appear on the obverse. The stars and stripes flow around Liberty as she makes her way across the scene.
Reverse: The impressive bald eagle design here is the work of Emily Damstra. Known as the Type 2 Eagle Landing design, it was introduced in mid-2021 when it replaced the classic Type 1 Heraldic Eagle design. There are plenty of fine details to observe as the eagle descends with an oak branch in its talons.
