Description
Why Choose This MS69 First Day of Issue 2023 American Silver Eagle?
The American Silver Eagle is one of the world’s most popular silver bullion coins. They were first struck by the U.S. Mint in 1986 and were quick to become a major hit with both collectors and stackers. For over three decades the design remained the same. This changed in 2021 with the 35th anniversary of the series, that’s when the Type 2 reverse was introduced. The Type 2 reverse is now standard.
- This is a 2023 Silver Eagle, marking the third year of issue of the Type 2 Silver Eagle design.
- Type 2 Silver Eagles include an enhanced security feature in the form of a reeded edge variation.
- This issue has a brilliant uncirculated finish and was struck from 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver.
- This specimen was graded by Numismatic Guaranty Company (NGC).
Beautiful Liberty and Bald Eagle Designs
Obverse: While the focus of the new Type 2 Silver Eagle was on the reverse, the obverse received a few touchups as well. Now this design is closer to Adolph A. Weinman’s original from 1916. Weinman’s initials, “AW,” also appear on this face of the coin.
Reverse: The new design that was introduced in 2021 is on this side. This finely detailed work of art was created by Emily Damstra. The bald eagle in this design is descending while it carries an oak branch with its talons.
