Featuring Adolph Weinman’s Classic Walking Liberty Design
Obverse: The morning sun begins to rise as Liberty, draped in the American flag, carries branches of laurel and oak. The design comes from Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty Half Dollar. Inscriptions on the obverse read, “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2022.” Adolph Weinman immigrated to the United States from Germany. He was a prolific sculptor and designed two of the most famous historic American coins, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime.
Reverse: On the reveres, a bald eagle prepares to land with an oak branch in its talons. To the right of the design, which is the work of Emily Damstra, is the statutory motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Inscriptions along the rim provide the name of the issuing country’s name, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the coin’s face value, “ONE DOLLAR,” and its metal content, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.” Emily Damstra has an MFA degree from the University of Michigan. She has designed numerous American coins, starting with the Boys Town Centennial Commemorative Coin Program in 2017.
