Enchanting Panda Imagery
Obverse: A picturesque mountain range is depicted on the obverse, with clusters of bamboo leaves above. A right facing image of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II is located at the center of the wilderness scene, surrounded by the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II,” “SOLOMON ISLANDS,” “2 DOLLARS” and “2022.” The coin’s unique serial number is positioned within the leaf pattern above. This effigy of the late monarch was designed in 1998 by award-winning British sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley.
Reverse: A black and white colorized panda is illustrated on the reverse, happily seated while grasping a large branch of bamboo. A dense forest rendered in a contrasting silver proof-like finish is depicted in the background, including thick stalks of bamboo, bamboo foliage and abundant fern fronds. The inscriptions “GENTLE GIANTS” and “GIANT PANDA” curve above the forest.
