Obverse: Centered on the obverse is a portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. The monarch is depicted wearing the Royal Diamond Diadem, the headdress she wore in the procession to her 1953 coronation. The Queen’s likeness stands out in bright silver against the fully gilded background. Inscriptions include “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA” and “2 DOLLARS.” The effigy was created in 2015 by award-winning British sculptor Jody Clark.
Reverse: The reverse features a typical Australian Outback landscape, with sparse foliage and a trio of hillocks rising in the distance. An adult kangaroo is illustrated bounding forward, while its joey leaps to the left in the background. The entirety of the surface is gilded with the exception of the starkly contrasting foreground kangaroo. Inscribed “KANGAROO,” “2022 2 OZ 9999 SILVER” and the Mint mark “P.”
