Description
Why Choose This GEM BU 2022-P Australia 1 oz Silver Wedge-Tailed Eagle Coin?
Many nations around the world offer collectible and bullion coins each year, but Australia really stands out in this area. An assortment of the world’s most popular bullion coins are struck by Australia, including the Wedge-Tailed Eagle series. One major draw to the series is the fact that the eagle designs are by John Mercanti, retired Chief Engraver of the U.S. Mint and designer of the original heraldic eagle reverse of the American Silver Eagle series. While initially the designs ran for two years, ever since 2017 the series has featured unique, one-year-only designs created by Mercanti. This 2022 bullion Wedge-Tailed Eagle marks the seventh design in the series and features a close-up side profile of a fierce Wedge Tailed Eagle.
- This coin was struck by Australia’s Perth Mint for 2022.
- This $1 AUS legal tender coin is made of .9999 fine silver and weighs 1 Troy oz.

Stunning Eagle Profile
Obverse: Like other coins issued by Australia, the obverse of this one shows a detailed portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. This is the most recent effigy of Her Majesty, it is the work of Jody Clark, a renowned British sculptor. The face value is among the inscriptions on this side.
Reverse: The impressive eagle design is on the reverse. This design shows a wedge-tailed eagle from the side with a very close view. The level of detail here is fantastic, especially on the eagle’s face. The series name is inscribed at the top of the design, while the date, weight, and purity are inscribed at the bottom. The Perth Mint’s “P” mint mark is near the right edge.
