Negro Leagues Commemorative Design with Privy
Obverse: The obverse design on this issue is that of a Negro Leagues pitcher. He is captured immediately after he throws a pitch. The ball sails speedily away from the source. A baseball diamond privy appears at the pitcher’s knee. The Mint’s A.I.P. artist Matt Swaim is responsible for the design.
Reverse: The reverse design on this issue is a pitcher’s eye view of the ball traveling at speed toward a home plate crowded by an umpire, catcher and batter. The Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) artist Don Everhart is responsible for the design.
PF69 FR Excellence
Proof coins are higher end collector coins. These beauties offer one of the finest finishes in numismatics. The quality is achieved through specially polishing the dies and planchets used to strike the coin. The grade this coin received, Proof 69, (PF69), is characterized by an above average strike and above average eye appeal. Meanwhile, First Releases (FR) coins are graded and encapsulated within 30 days of issue.
