Though victorious, he fell from the Gods’ favor for boldly attempting to join their ranks on Mount Olympus. Obverse: The obverse depicts Bellerophon’s moment of triumph, as he slays the lion and goat headed Chimera with a long spear. The Greek hero claims his victory from the back of the powerful Pegasus, as his cape swirls around his head like a halo.
Reverse: The Intaglio Mint’s logo, an ionic column layered over a stylized globe, is centered on the reverse, surrounded by a spiral radial line pattern. The graphic is encircled by a frame containing the inscriptions “ONE TROY OUNCE” above, and “.999 FINE SILVER” below, with the 2022 issue date as the Roman numerals “MMXXII” flanked by stars on the right and left.
