Obverse: The obverse shows a linden leaf along with a flower. The level of detail that’s visible on the leaf and flower is stunning. The linden tree was valued throughout history for many purposes. Numerous species of linden can be found throughout Europe, and their North American cousins are called basswood.
Reverse: The date is inscribed on the reverse of this coin. The design here shows an eagle with two heads. The eagle displays a high level of detail and is even holding bolts of lightning with its talons. The denomination of 5 marks appears on the reverse of this medal, but is ornamental only in nature as this medal is not legal tender.
