Breathtaking Dragon Design
Obverse: The obverse features the right facing effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II created by award-winning British artist Jody Clark. Inscribed “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA” “2 OZ 9999 AG,” “2022” and “2 DOLLARS.” Mr. Clark has been the Head of Design at Great Britain’s Commonwealth Mint since May 2020.
Reverse: A meticulously rendered Chinese Dragon is illustrated on the reverse, showing off its gracefully twisting, scaled body as it triumphantly grasps a pearl in its claw. In Chinese mythology, the pearl is a powerful metaphor for wisdom and enlightenment. The background is ornamented with intricately detailed auspicious clouds, which are emblematic of good luck and fortune. The Perth Mint mark “P” is aesthetically integrated into the cloud pattern.
