Magnificently Detailed Dragon Imagery
Obverse: A portrait of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II with the Royal Diamond Diadem upon her head is depicted on the obverse, centered within a pattern of radial lines. “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA” and “1 OZ 9999 AG” are inscribed above the effigy, with the coin’s “1 DOLLAR” denomination and year of issue “2022” positioned below. This right facing rendition of Great Britain’s longest reigning monarch was designed by acclaimed British sculptor Jody Clark in 2015.
Reverse: The reverse is adorned with the twisting figure of a Chinese style dragon in pursuit of a flaming pearl, which is a powerful symbol of wisdom and prosperity. The mythical creature features a heavily scaled body, razor sharp claws, long trailing whiskers and pointed horns. The Perth Mint’s “P” Mint mark is positioned near the dragon’s tail, in the upper left corner.
