Powerful Eagle Landing Design by Emily Damstra

Obverse: The obverse features the Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman. The early morning sun rises as Liberty, cloaked in the American flag, bears branches of laurel and oak. Her name, “LIBERTY,” is inscribed on this face, as are the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the date, “2022.” Adolph Weinman was a major contributor to the large scale redesign of American coinage in the early 20th century. The Walking Liberty Half Dollar and Mercury Dime are his best known contributions.

Reverse: Emily Damstra’s reverse design, which was sculpted by Michael Gaudioso, features an eagle spread its wings as it prepares to land with an oak branch in its talons. The bird is encircled by rim inscriptions that note the coin’s country, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” face value, “ONE DOLLAR,” and weight, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.” Emily Damstra earned her M.F.A. degree from the University of Michigan. She has been designing coins since 2017.
