Featuring the Classic Walking Liberty Design of Adolph Weinman

Obverse: The iconic Walking Liberty design of Adolph Weinman, which came from his Walking Liberty Half Dollar, graces the obverse. The early morning sun rises as Liberty bears laurel and oak branches in the foreground. Obverse inscriptions read, “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and “2022.” Adolph Weinman designed two of the most recognizable coins in American history, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime. Besides designing coins, he was a prolific sculptor.

Reverse: Emily Damstra designed and Michael Gaudioso sculpted the reverse design. With an oak branch in tow, an eagle prepares to land with its wings spread. The statutory motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is inscribed on this face, as are the name of the issuing country, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the coin’s face value, “ONE DOLLAR,” and its weight, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.” Emily Damstra attended the University of Michigan, where she earned her M.F.A. Her designs have appeared on coinage since 2017.
