Gorgeous American Gold Eagle Imagery
Obverse: Both Gold Eagle style types feature a rendition of Lady Liberty walking forward on the obverse while carrying a flaming torch and an olive branch. Inscribed “LIBERTY,” the Mint mark “W” and “2021.” The timeless image is borrowed from the 1907 Gold Double Eagle coin designed by acclaimed sculptor Augustus Saint-Gaudens.
Type-1 Reverse (1986 until mid-2021): A nesting eagle family is depicted on the reverse, with a male eagle portrayed in flight above, clutching an olive branch. The heartwarming wildlife scene is the work of award-winning sculptor Miley Busiek.
Type-2 Reverse (introduced 2021): The reverse features a close-up view of an eagle facing left. The distinctive eagle portrait is credited to U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program artist Jennie Norris. The reverse of each Gold Eagle type includes the inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “5 DOLLARS,” and “1/10 OZ. FINE GOLD.”
Flawless Proof 70 Set
This 2021-W American Gold Eagle 1/10 oz. Designer Edition proof coin set was submitted to the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) for review. The Type-1 and Type-2 coins were individually assessed and judged to be in perfectly struck Proof 70 condition. The coins were also awarded the Ultra Cameo (UC) designation, which describes the exceptionally sharp contrast between their frosted design elements and mirrored backgrounds. The coins are encapsulated in separate, sonically sealed protective holders, each accompanied by a classic brown-style NGC certification label.
