  • The coin measures 40.60 mm diameter.

  • The coin is a product of the U.S. Mint’s branch in West Point, New York.
  • The coin received the coveted First Day of Issue attribution.

Gorgeous Patriotically Themed Type-2 Designs

Obverse: The Silver Eagle’s obverse image remains unchanged, depicting the American flag-wrapped form of Lady Liberty walking towards the rising sun. She carries branches of oak and laurel, which are traditional emblems of strength, honor and triumph. Inscriptions include “LIBERTY,” “2021” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” This rendition of Liberty, created by renowned early 20th century sculptor Adolph A. Weinman, is borrowed from the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar. The artist’s initials “AW” appear on the Type-2 Silver Eagle variety, representing the first time Mr. Weinman has been given credit for the design in the series’ thirty-five year history.

Reverse: The reverse features an image of the U.S. national bird with its wings raised in preparation for landing. The eagle grasps a branch of oak, which is a symbol for wisdom, strength and endurance. Inscribed “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “ONE DOLLAR” and the West Point Mint mark “W.” The Type-2 Eagle Landing image was designed by science and nature illustrator Emily Damstra. Ms. Damstra has been a member of the U.S. Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program since 2014.
