Description

Why order this Proof 2021-W Type 2 American 1 oz Silver Eagle?

Share in the U.S. Mint’s celebration of the 35th anniversary of the Silver Eagle Proof with this first ever Type 2 edition in the series. In mid-2021, the Type 2 version replaced the original Type-1 Heraldic Eagle design that had appeared on the series since its debut in 1986. This new version has a new reverse design, and Adolph Weinman’s artist mark features on the obverse for the first time. The coin also has an interrupted serrated edge, a security measure against counterfeiting.

Breathtaking Eagle Landing Design by Emily Damstra

Obverse: Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty design graces the obverse, as is tradition. The image shows the morning sun beginning to rise as Liberty strides confidently carrying branches while draped in the American flag. Inscriptions on this face include her name, “LIBERTY,” the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the date, “2021.” Adolph Weinman designed two of the most recognizable coins in American history, the Walking Liberty Half Dollar and the Mercury Dime. He also designed other numismatic pieces, as well as sculpted several pieces that remain on display to this day.

Reverse: A new reverse design by Emily Damstra makes its debut. An eagle prepares to land while carrying an oak branch. “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is inscribed to the right. Inscriptions on the rim note the coin’s country, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” face value, “ONE DOLLAR,” and metal content, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.”

Virtually Flawless PF69 UC ER

This coin earned Numismatic Guaranty Corporation’s (NGC’s) second highest grade, Proof 69. That means that it appears perfect to the naked eye. NGC also certified this piece Ultra Cameo, which credits it for having deeply mirrored fields and heavily frosted devices, and Early Releases, which means that it was submitted for grading within 30 days of its initial release from the mint.
