Obverse: The obverse of the medal features a portrait of John Tyler. He is remembered as the 10th President and the 10th Vice President of the United States. He ascended to the Presidency after William Henry Harrison died one month into his new administration in 1841. Tyler was a one-term President who was a member of the Whig Party when he held the Nations highest office. He was an advocate for State’s Rights and only favored Federal regulation when it those rules did not limit the power of the states.
Reverse: The reverse of the medal features the image of two hands engaged in a hand shake. Over the hands, a tomahawk and a peace pipe appear crossed.
