Spectacular Killer Whale in Action
Obverse: The obverse is graced with a right facing image of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, encircled by the inscriptions “ELIZABETH II,” “SOLOMON ISLANDS” and “5 DOLLARS.” The coin’s individualized serial number is located at the upper right. To coordinate with the series’ ocean theme, the background is patterned with a nautical map graphic. Acclaimed British sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley created this highly recognizable likeness of the Queen in 1998.
Reverse: A tranquil ocean scene on the reverse depicting tiny fish swimming amongst a coral reef is shattered as a Killer Whale bursts from the ocean’s depths, and the confines of the coin, in a massive spray of water and mist. “999.9 SILVER 2 OZ” and “2022” are inscribed above.
