Striking Eagle Landing Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: Adolph Weinman’s iconic Walking Liberty design retains its place on the obverse. Liberty, draped in the American flag, carries laurel and oak branches as the morning sun begins to emerge from beyond the horizon. Her name, “LIBERTY,” arches over the image, while the date, “2021,” and national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” are also inscribed on this face. Adolph Weinman is most famous for designing the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. He also made several other numismatic contributions and was a prominent sculptor.
Reverse: An Eagle Landing design by Emily Damstra replaces John Mercanti’s reverse design. The bird spreads its wings while carrying an oak branch. Inscriptions on the rim provide the name of the issuing country, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the coin’s face value, “ONE DOLLAR,” and its metal content, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.” The statutory motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is also included on the right.
