Striking American Alligator Designs
Obverse: The obverse shows a view of an American alligator swimming from below the surface of the water. A kayak is visible on the right, and near the bottom is a look at the reverse inscription from the opposite side. The Palau coat of arms features to the right of the alligator along with the inscriptions “REPUBLIC OF PALAU” and “$5.”
Reverse: On the reverse is a colorized, overhead view of the alligator swimming on the surface. The water and marsh are colorized, while the alligator and kayak are not. At the bottom of this face is the inscription “AMERICAN ALLIGATOR.”

Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) provided the grading information for this coin on an exclusive Pacific Rim label, which shows an aerial view of an archipelago. NGC graded the coin Proof 70, thus indicating that it appears perfect as seen under 5x magnification. The grading company also certified this piece First Releases, which means that it was submitted for grading no more than 30 days after its initial release from the mint.
