Striking Hercules and Centaur Design
Obverse: Ian Rank-Broadley’s right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II features at the center of the obverse. Encircling the monarch are inscriptions of her name, “ELIZABETH II,” the coin’s face value, “TWO DOLLARS,” and its purity, “AG 999.” On the rim frame are a pattern and inscriptions of the name of the issuing country, “NIUE ISLAND,” and date, “2021.” Ian Rank-Broadley is most famous for his portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, which has been appearing on coinage since 1998. recently, he completed work on the Armed Forces Memorial.
Reverse: Heracles fights a centaur on the reverse. A red garnet insert depicts wine in the lower right. Inscriptions on the rim read, “HERACLES” and “DEMIGODS.”
