Description
Why purchase this Brilliant Uncirculated 2021 2 oz. Silver Germania 10 Mark Medal?
The Germania Mint has issued the Germania series since 2019, each year featuring a new female personification of the Germanic region. The 2021 silver release includes four weights, ranging from 1 oz. to 1 Kilo. The Mint has taken unusual advantage of the larger diameter for each weight, expanding upon Germania’s surroundings as the surface area of each medal increases.
- This 2021 Germania is struck from 2 Troy oz. of .9999 fine silver.
- The non-denominated medal is minted with a beautiful Brilliant Uncirculated finish.
- The bullion medal has a 50 mm diameter.
- The medal will ship in its original Mint packaging.
- Mintage is limited to just 2,500 pieces.
Gorgeous Allegorical Imagery
Obverse: The obverse features Lady Germania standing at the bow of a wooden sailing ship as its guardian, with an imperial sword (Reichsschwert) in her right hand and a fluttering banner in her left. A bicephalous (two-headed) eagle adorns the ship below Germania, which symbolizes the power to look towards the future, while at the same time drawing knowledge from the past. Inscribed “2 OZ AG 999.9” and “GERMANIA 2021.”
Reverse: The emblem of the Germania Mint is located on the reverse, depicting a two-headed eagle in a heraldic pose, with two notched bolts clutched in its talons. The image is surrounded by two curving laurel branches, along with the inscriptions “10 MARK” above and “GERMANIA” below. Since the German Mark was retired and officially replaced with the Euro in 1999, the appearance of the denomination on the medal is entirely ornamental.
