Obverse: A right facing effigy Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II wearing the Royal Diamond Diadem is located at the center of the obverse, upon a pattern of radial lines. Inscriptions include “ELIZABETH II,” “AUSTRALIA” and “1 OZ 9999 AG” above, with “1 DOLLAR” and “2021” below. The portrait of the monarch was created in 2015 by acclaimed British artist Jody Clark, who has been a sculptor for Great Britain’s Royal Mint since 2012.
Reverse: The reverse design is focused on a single dragon, with its scaled serpentine form covering the majority of the coin’s surface. The creature is rendered in exquisite detail, featuring piercing eyes, sharp horns, long, curving whiskers and razor-like claws. The Perth Mint’s “P” Mint mark is positioned in the upper right corner.
