Classic Walking Liberty Obverse with New Type 2 Reverse
Obverse: The obverse of this coin still shows the Walking Liberty design. This design was originally created for the half dollar and was first used in 1916. Liberty is depicted here walking with one arm extended while she carries a bundle of oak and laurel branches with the other. The date is at the bottom of the design. Type 2 Silver Eagles notably include Adolph Weinman’s “AW” artist initials on the obverse.
Reverse: The reverse displays the new Type 2 eagle landing design by Emily Damstra. Emily has brought her creative skills to the U.S. Mint through their Artistic Infusion Program. This new reverse design shows a bald eagle descending with an oak branch in its talons, the eagle is impressively detailed.
PCGS MS69 First T2 Production with a Flag Label
This specimen was awarded the grade of Mint State 69 by the Professional Coin Grading Service (PCGS), which means it is nearly free of flaws. This coin was also given the “First T2 Production” designation, which is unique to the transition period to the Type 2 reverse. This designation means it has been verified that this coin was among the first 200,000 Type 2 Silver Eagles that were struck. This coin features a blue label to show its grade.
