Patriotic Landing Eagle Design by Emily Damstra
Obverse: Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty design retains its place on the obverse. Draped in the American flag, Liberty carries laurel and oak branches in the early morning sun. Her name, “LIBERTY,” arches over the image. The date, “2021,” and national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” are also inscribed on this face. Weinman’s artist mark has been included for the first time. Adolph Weinman designed two of the most recognizable historic American coins, the Mercury Dime and the Walking Liberty Half Dollar. In addition to these and other numismatic works, he was also a sculptor, and his work can still be seen in many cities across America.
Reverse: An eagle spreads its wings while landing with an oak branch in its talons in Emily Damstra’s new reverse design. The design was sculpted by Michael Gaudioso. Inscribed along the rim are the name of the issuing country, “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” the coin’s face value, “ONED OLLAR,” and its metal content, “1 OZ. FINE SILVER.” The statutory motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” is also included on this face.
