Landmark Designs
Obverse: The timeless obverse design originally appeared on the circulating half dollar in 1916 and continued through 1947. This design was created by Adolph A. Weinman whose initials appear on the obverse for the first time in the series with this “T-2” issue. The design features the Goddess Liberty walking over rough terrain.
Reverse: The reverse design is noted scientific illustrator and numismatic designer Emily Damstra’s Eagle landing on an oak branch image, replacing John Mercanti’s iconic heraldic eagle reverse.
