Handsome Commemorative Design
Obverse: An intricately detailed bust of Alexander the Great, facing slightly left, is centered on the obverse. The Macedonian king is depicted wearing a gorgeous crested helmet, with a military style cuirass and cloak. The inscription “ALEXANDER THE GREAT” sweeps overhead, while “KING OF MACEDONIA 336-323 BCE” curves below.
Reverse: The reverse portrays Alexander the Great as a military commander in action, perched upon a galloping horse with his sword in a battle ready pose, and cloak billowing out in his wake. Inscriptions include the “1 OZ. .999 FINE SILVER” and “THERE IS NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE TO HIM WHO WILL TRY,” a famous inspirational quote which historians believe to be the words of Alexander.
