2021 $1 T1 and T2 Silver Eagle Set PCGS MS70 First and Last Day of Production Label
Why add this perfectly graded 2021 American Silver Eagle 2-piece Last Day of Production Type-1 and First Day of Production Type-2 bullion coin set to your collection?
This exquisite set of American Silver Eagle coins marks the conclusion and the beginning of chapters of the U.S. Mint’s popular silver dollar series. After a period of thirty-five years with no change to the coin’s appearance, the Mint launched a new design for the Silver Eagle in July 2021. The alteration primarily affected the reverse imagery, where the heraldic eagle graphic (Type-1) was replaced by a rendition of an eagle landing (Type-2). This set features the two Silver Eagle design styles released in 2021, which are certified as Last Day of Production and First Day of Production of their individual design type.
- This 2021 American Silver Eagle coin set includes one Last Day of Production Type-1 style coin and one First Day of Production Type-2 style coin.
- The coins were struck at the West Point Mint.
- Each 40.60 mm diameter coin contains 1 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver.
- The Type-2 silver dollar features an innovative edge style with interrupted reeding as a counterfeit deterrent.
- Each coin is perfectly graded.
- Only 200,000 of each coin type is eligible for the highly collectible Last Day or First Day designation.
Gorgeously Detailed Silver Eagle Imagery
Obverse: Each Silver Eagle type is adorned with an image of Lady Liberty enveloped in an American flag on the obverse, surrounded by the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” “2021” and “IN GOD WE TRUST.” This patriotic interpretation of Lady Liberty is borrowed from the 1916 Walking Liberty Half Dollar designed by acclaimed early 20th century sculptor Adolph A. Weinman. On the Type-2 Silver Eagle, credit to the creator as the monogram initials “AW” appears for the first time in the history of the series.
Type-1 Reverse: An eagle is centered on the Type-1 reverse, with an olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its grip. Inscribed “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” “ONE DOLLAR,” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” The iconic heraldic image was designed by John Mercanti, the U.S. Mint’s 12th Chief Engraver.
Type-2 Reverse: The reverse of the Type-2 style coin features an eagle with its wings uplifted in preparation for landing. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER” and “ONE DOLLAR.” The eagle landing image is the work of U.S. Mint Artistic Infusion Program artist Emily Damstra.
