This 1/4 ounce American Gold Eagle is one of the debut issues of the Type-2 Eagle Profile reverse that was designed by Jennie Norris. 2021 marks not only the 35th annviersary of the series but the first time a brand-new reverse design has ever appeared. The Type-2 Gold Eagle reverse started debuting in mid-2021 while early issues still carried the Family of Eagles reverse design, a staple of the series since its debut in 1986.

Spectacular Historic Designs
Obverse: The image used on the obverse of this series has been enhanced with some original Augustus Saint-Gaudens design details. The beauty of the original 1907 Liberty Double Eagle design remains. The Goddess Liberty is shown bearing the Torch of Enlightenment and an olive branch. The enhanced U.S. Capitol Building and rays of the sun appear in the background.
Reverse: The reverse image was designed specifically for the series by a member of the U.S. Mint’s Artistic Infusion Program (AIP) contributor Jennie Norris. The reverse depicts a powerful bald eagle portrait. This is the first issue in the series to feature the new reverse design.
