Iconic ASE Design
Obverse: The obverse “Walking Liberty” image was designed by Adolph A. Weinman in 1916. It depicts Lady Liberty traversing a rough landscape as she cheerfully shares strength and prosperity while she is wrapped in Patriotism.
Reverse: The reverse image is an original Heraldic Eagle designed for the series by John M. Mercanti. It appears on the “W” American Silver Eagle Proof for the final time as it is due for replacement later in 2021. The powerful American Bald Eagle is shown spreading his wings under an inverted triangle of thirteen stars.
