Obverse: The obverse features a meticulously detailed bald eagle in flight, with an olive branch of peace clutched in its right talon. The inscription “WORLD WAR II” is positioned between the branch and the eagle’s wing, while the “W” Mint mark of the West Point Mint, the word “LIBERTY” and the memorial date of “1945” appear near the rim of the coin.
Reverse: On the reverse, a stylized sun shines upon a cluster of olive tree branches. The design characteristics of the sun are borrowed from the 1945 Victory Medal. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “75TH ANNIVERSARY,” “AU 24K 1/2 OZ.,” “$25” and the issue date of “2020.”
