Each player is portrayed reaching for the ball with slightly elongated arms, to demonstrate the effort and skill involved in the game. Inscriptions include “LIBERTY,” “2020,” “IN GOD WE TRUST” and “W.”
Reverse: The reverse imagery cleverly utilizes the coin’s curved shape, depicting a basketball stretching across the domed surface, with the distinctive net and rim goal of the sport below. The inscriptions “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “FIVE DOLLARS” bend around the finely textured ball.

The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) received this 2020-W Basketball Hall of Fame Commemorative Five Dollar Gold Proof Coin for review and qualified for the First Day of Issue designation.
