The date is located on the obverse. The design on this side of the coin shows 3 players simultaneously reaching for the ball. The inside of a basketball net can be seen in the background behind them.
The face value is located on the reverse along with “E PLURIBUS UNUM” and “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA.” This design by Donna Weaver shows a basketball just before it passes through the net.

The Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) was chosen to certify this coin. It was assigned the grade of Mint State 69 and the First Releases designation. These indicate this specimen is nearly flawless and it was submitted within 30 days of its release date.
