Classic Kennedy Half Dollar Design
Obverse: The obverse features a rendition of Kennedy in a left facing pose. The image is a slightly modified version of the portrait Kennedy approved for use on a presidential medal. Inscriptions include “LIBERTY,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “2020” and the San Francisco Mint mark
S.” The portrait was created by Gilroy Roberts, the Mint’s 9th Chief Engraver.
Reverse: A heraldic eagle is centered within a frame of fifty stars on the reverse, with a bundle of arrows and an olive branch in its grip. Inscribed “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA” and “HALF DOLLAR.” The design is credited to Frank Gasparro, the Mint’s 10th Chief Engraver, from 1965 until 1981.
