Why purchase this San Francisco Mint 2020-(S) American 1 oz Silver Eagle?

In 2020, the United States Mint authorized a production run of bullion American Silver Eagles at the San Francisco branch to help mitigate both increased customer demand for bullion coins and production delays that arose from the covid-19 pandemic. • This piece is $1 U.S legal tender.
  • This piece was struck from 1 oz of .999 fine silver.
  • The coin was struck at the San Francisco Mint, but does not bear a physical mint mark.
  • Adolph Weinman and John Mercanti created its designs.
  • Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) graded this coin MS69.
  • NGC certified this piece First Day of Issue and gave it their Emergency Production pedigree.
  • Grading information comes on an exclusive Eagle label.

Featuring Exquisite Designs by John Mercanti and Adolph Weinman

Obverse: The obverse features one of the most iconic images in America’s numismatic history, Adolph Weinman’s Walking Liberty. Carrying branches in her left arm, an American flag-draped Liberty strides toward the left as the sun emerges from behind the horizon. Her name, “LIBERTY,” is inscribed at the top of this face, while the date, “2020,” and the national motto, “IN GOD WE TRUST,” also appear on this face. Adolph Weinman contributed two of the most important pieces to America’s numismatic renaissance of the early 20th century, the Walking Liberty half dollar and the Mercury dime. His work also included a number of sculptures, many of which are displayed in cities across the United States.

Reverse: The reverse features an adaptation of the Great Seal of the United States by John Mercanti. Thirteen stars represent the original states at the top, while an eagle protects a union shield below. “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “1 OZ. FINE SILVER,” and “ONE DOLLAR” are inscribed along the rim. John Mercanti was the twelfth U.S. Mint Chief Engraver. His stint in the post took up only part of his 37 years with the institution. Over that extended period, he designed more coins and medals than anyone else in its history.
