Why order this 2019-W American Silver Eagle Proof?
Take a look at the designs of the world’s favorite bullion coin in a new light with this Proof Silver Eagle. The coin continues a rich tradition that began in 1986 and has since grown to global prominence. The coin was struck from one ounce of .999 fine silver, just like its bullion counterpart. Unlike the bullion coin, it also has the “W” mint mark of the West Point Mint, which is situated not far from the United States Military Academy.
Classic Walking Liberty Design by Adolph Weinman
The obverse design comes from the Walking Liberty half dollar, which was designed by Adolph Weinman and was issued from 1916-1947. It features Liberty striding toward the left side of the coin with her right hand raised, as though presenting the morning sun, which is just emerging from beyond the horizon, to the holder. She wears a Phrygian cap, a symbol of her freedom, and is draped in the American flag. In her left arm, she bears symbols of honors bestowed upon civilians and military members, laurel and oak branches.
John Mercanti’s reverse design is adapted from the Great Seal of the United States. At the center is a union shield that is guarded by an eagle. The eagle clutches arrows in one talon and an olive branch in the other. The arrows represent America’s preparedness to defend her values, while the olive branch indicates a preference for peace. The bird also holds a ribbon in its beak. The ribbon bears the phrase “E PLURIBUS UNUM” (From many, one). Thirteen stars are included at the top of the design to represent the original states.
Virtually Flawless PF69 UC
Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) indicated that this coin is almost impeccable as seen by the naked eye by awarding it their second highest grade, Proof 69. The company’s experts also certified the coin Ultra Cameo, which means that its heavily frosted devices and deeply mirrored fields contrast sharply on both faces.
