Why order this 2019-W America the Beautiful Lowell National Park Quarter?
As part of the 2019 celebration of National Coin Week, the US Mint released 10 million quarters bearing the “W” mint mark of the West Point Mint into circulation. The coins were the first ever quarters issued for circulation to bear the mint mark. Because all of the coins – 2 million of each of the 2019 America the Beautiful releases – were released directly into circulation, the bulk of the coins are likely to be below mint state before anyone recognizes them as distinct. That makes this Mint State 65 piece all the more appealing.
Powerful Mill Girl Design by Joel Iskowitz
Like all other quarters in the America the Beautiful Series, this one features John Flanagan’s left-side portrait of President George Washington on the obverse. The famous design has appeared on American quarters since its debut in 1932. The effigy is joined by the inscriptions “LIBERTY,” ” IN GOD WE TRUST,” “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” and “QUARTER DOLLAR.”
Joel Iskowitz designed and Phebe Hemphill sculpted the reverse design. It features a Mill Girl working at a power loom by a window. The Boott Cotton Mill clocktower and a smokestack are visible through the window. The image is encircled by a rim frame that bears four sets of inscriptions, including “LOWELL” and “MASSACHUSETTS.”
Stunning MS65 FR with Mercanti Signed Label
Former US Mint Chief Engraver John Mercanti signed the label on which Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) provided its grading information. That information includes a Mint State 65 grade and First Releases certification. The MS65 grade indicates that the coin was struck well, while First Releases certification means that it was submitted to NGC no more than 30 days after its initial release from the mint.
