The half dollar coin is graced with an image of President John F. Kennedy on the obverse, with a meticulously rendered interpretation of the U.S. Presidential Seal on the reverse. The design of the coin has remained unchanged since its introduction in 1964.
All releases of the Native American Dollar feature an image of Sacagawea carrying her newborn son on the obverse. The 2019 single year of issue reverse illustrates Native American engineer Mary Golda Ross (Cherokee), with astronaut John Herrington (Chickasaw) beside the Agena spacecraft she helped develop for the Gemini and Apollo Programs in the background. The coin is edge lettered with “2019,” The Philadelphia Mint mark “P” and “E PLURIBUS UNUM.”
