Coin: The coin’s obverse bears a portrait of Sacajawea and her son Jean Baptiste by Glenna Goodacre. “LIBERTY” is inscribed along the rim, while “IN GOD WE TRUST” is inscribed on the left. The reverse design shows Mary Golda Ross writing calculations against a backdrop of the Atlas-Agena launching into space.
Note: President George Washington’s portrait is at the center of the obverse of the Federal Reserve Note. To the upper right and lower left are serial numbers that start with “1959.” On the reverse, “ONE is inscribed between the designs of the two faces of the Great Seal of the United States.
