Description
Why order this Mirrored Trunk Variety 2019-P $1 Australia 1 oz Silver Emu?
The new Australian Silver Emu Series continues with this second edition. The first issue in the series was extremely popular among collectors, and this second edition appears likely to follow suit. The coin bears the “P” mint mark of the Perth Mint, where it was struck on a 1 oz planchet of .9999 fine silver. This is the Mirrored Trunk Variety. Now sold out at the Perth Mint, only 30,000 of these coins were struck, of which only a fraction will bear this variety which is characterized by the trunk of the tree on the obverse having a mirrored finish which does not appear on the standard silver Emu bullion coin.
Stunning Emu Design by Natasha Muhl
On the obverse is a right-side portrait of reigning British monarch Queen Elizabeth II. She wears her Royal Diamond Diadem, earrings, and a necklace as she faces right. Her shoulders are open to the holder. Her name, “ELIZABETH II,” is inscribed along the rim, as are the coin’s country, “AUSTRALIA,” and face value, “1 DOLLAR.”
Two emus stand in the foreground of Natasha Muhl’s obverse design. They are in their native habitat, the Australian outback. Behind the bird on the right is a barren tree. The tree trunk extends downward from the bird. Unlike the standard version, it is shiny like the bird’s other legs rather than matte, like the rest of the background. Rim inscriptions read, “AUSTRALIAN EMU,” “2019,” and “1 OZ 9999 SILVER.”
