Issued as part of the American Legion 100th Anniversary 2019 Proof Silver Dollar and Medal Set, the medal was struck from 0.8594 Troy oz. of .999 fine silver at the Philadelphia Mint, its mintage limited to just 10,000.
Patriotic Commemorative Design
An eagle is illustrated on the obverse, beside five stars. Each star symbolizes one of the five branches of the U.S. Armed Forces. The image is surrounded by a frame inscribed with “HONORING AMERICA’S VETERANS.”
The reverse is patterned with a field of stars representing American veterans of the past, present and future, with one star clearly absent. The missing single star is incused below to honor the lives lost in the country’s defense. Inscribed “SERVICE AND SACRIFICE.”

This impressive medal from the American Legion 100th Anniversary 2019 Proof Silver Dollar and Medal Set was submitted to Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC) for review within thirty days of release. Possessing nearly perfect surfaces and exceptional contrast between finishes, the medal was awarded the grade of Proof 69 Ultra Cameo (UC). The medallion is presented in a NGC holder with an attractive Liberty Flag First Releases certification label.
