The historic coin was originally circulated throughout the Middle East and British Colonies in the 17th and 18th century and recently celebrated its 400th anniversary, leading the Royal Dutch Mint to restrike the iconic dollar.
Featuring the notable rampant lion
Depicted on the obverse is an armored knight standing behind a shield, the shield bears the Netherland coat of arms; a rampant lion. Surrounding this design are inscriptions that read, “MO. ARG. PRO. CON. FOE. BELG.” and “TRA” representing the Utrecht Mint.
The reverse features the iconic rampant lion, the design is fashioned after the original Lion Dollar and its bold design of the fierce lion.
