Struck in 2018 at the Royal Dutch Mint, this silver proof is fashioned after the historic 1617 Lion Dollar. Both faces of this issue feature the popular designs from the Lion Dollar and only differ from the original in the weight and metal content of 1 Troy oz of .9999 pure silver.
Celebrating the historic rampant lion design
An armored knight is the focal point of the obverse, the knight is standing behind a shield adorned with a rampant lion and is surrounded by inscriptions that read, “MO. ARG. PRO. CON. FOE. BELG.” and “TRA.”
The reverse features a rampant lion. This design is fashioned after the original Lion Dollar of 1617 and stands as the Dutch and Belgian coat of arms.
Packaged in a black core holder and certified as GEM Proof
This Silver Lion Dollar was certified as GEM Proof by the Numismatic Guaranty Corporation (NGC), this designation is used to describe an example that is in original Mint condition and is at least the quality of a Proof 65 or higher. The Lion Dollar is encapsulated in a black core holder.
