Celebrate the historic Lion Dollar through this 2018 restrike from the Royal Dutch Mint!
Struck in 2018 at the Royal Dutch Mint this Silver Lion Dollar is fashioned after the historic 1617 Lion Dollar, which was widely circulated throughout the Middle East and British Colonies in 16th and 17th centuries. This restrike of the historic piece holds closely to the original only differing in its metal content of 1 Troy oz. of .9999 pure silver.
Featuring a historic design
Depicted on the obverse of this silver proof is an armored knight standing behind a shield which adorned with a rampant lion. Encircling this design is a legend that reads, “MO. ARG. PRO. CON. FOE. BELG.” and “TRA.”
The reverse features a replica of the original Lion Dollar and features a single rampant lion.
