Why should you add this unique 2017 Canada Endangered Animal Cutout – Woodland Caribou Silver Proof to your collection?

Released in 2017 by the Royal Canadian Mint (RCM), this series takes a unique perspective on the wildlife who are endangered of going extinct, by simply cutting them out of the coin entirely. This is achieved through state-of-the-art design technology coming together to create the caribou shaped cutout, which is the first animal to be featured in the new series.

Featuring the endangered Woodland Caribou!

The obverse features the traditional portrait of Queen Elizabeth II, the effigy has been moved to the top left of the coin in order avoid the cutout of the woodland caribou.

The reverse features a thought-provoking design showing the hole that would be left if the Woodland Caribou went extinct. The image was created by Canadian artist Trevor Tennant and features a snowy peaceful landscape. This beautiful mountainscape is contrasted by a cutout in the middle of the design in the shape of a caribou.
