Timeless Early 20th Century Imagery
Obverse: The image of a Native American Chief is centered on the obverse, with his hair gathered, braided, and ornamented with feathers. The portrait aesthetically combines the facial characteristics of Big Tree, Iron Tail, and Two Moons, leaders of three different Native American tribes. Inscribed “LIBERTY,” the Mint mark “W,” “2013,” and the letter ”F,” which serves as design credit to Fraser.
Reverse: On the reverse, an American buffalo is illustrated standing upon a compacted mound of earth. Inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “E PLURIBUS UNUM,” “IN GOD WE TRUST,” “$50,” and “1 OZ. .9999 FINE GOLD.”
